Vision of St. Luitgards from Charles Bridge in Prague. The author is Matyáš Bernard Braun (1684-1738). One of the most important sculptures of the Czech radical baroque depicts a mystical vision of a blind Flemish nun, to whom Christ bent down from the cross to show her his wounds. The composition based on a drawing by J.K.Liška was painted by Petr Brandl for an altarpiece for the Cistercians in Sedlec near Kutná Hora, the same customers had the sculpture erected on the Charles Bridge.
